First Week of School

What a great first week!  This is an adorable group of students and I can tell we are going to have a wonderful year together!

Thank you all for returning the permission slips for the blog.  Students enjoy seeing their pictures on the computer.  This is my second year using a blog and I am hoping to add more.  I admit to getting caught up in learning with my students and forgetting to take pictures.  I want this to be a place where families can access information about their child's day and students can find interactive sites!

It was nice meeting families at Open House last week.  Please remember that you can contact me by email (thibaults@csdvt.org ) or by sending in a note with your child.

I hope you all had a long sun filled weekend!  I can't wait to see all my students tomorrow morning!

 

Ice Cream Trip

All second graders will be walking to our local ice cream shop as an end of the year treat.  We will be walking to The Cup and Cone Monday, June 4th in the afternoon.  The rain date will be Tuesday, June 5th. There is no cost for this as it is our farewell and best wishes treat!  Your child can chose a small soft served ice cream cone.  The flavors are vanilla, chocolate, or twist with rainbow sprinkles.

Spirit Week

Spirit Week: The week of April 16-20 is Spirit Week at Union Memorial School. Each day has a special theme and the kids have a lot of fun with it every year. A flyer will be sent home the week before as a reminder. Here are the days:

Monday – Hat Day (wear your favorite hat)

Tuesday – Favorite T-shirt Day (wear your favorite T-shirt)

Wednesday – School Colors Day (wear blue and green clothes)

Thursday – "Fill a Bucket" Day (give a friend a compliment)

Friday – Pajama/Picnic Lunch (wear your pajamas and we have a

"Picnic Lunch" outside – weather permitting)

Red Clover

Red Clover Afternoon and Evening: A Red Clover afternoon and evening will be held on Thursday, April 19. The afternoon program is for the students and staff to celebrate the Red Clover books. In the evening from 6:30-7:30pm, families are invited to come to school and enjoy various art activities that highlight the books. This program, named after Vermont's state flower, is sponsored by the VT Center for the Book and the VT Departments of Education and Libraries. Ten picture books are nominated by a committee of educators every year. Our students have heard all ten books and have voted for their favorite. More than 25,000 children in Vermont voted last year. Please join us for a wonderful evening.
