100th Day of School
What a fun day we had together! We colored 100 day crowns. We read 100 Hungry Ants by Elinor J. Pinches and then made large ant arrays. We wrote about having a $100 and then everyone got a large $100 bill. Lastly, we made 100 piece puzzles and ate 100 Calorie snacks. Ask your child what their favorite part of the day was.

January Surprise
It is always fun to do something out of the ordinary on a cloudy January day. This morning at 9:10 the whole school stopped what they were doing and danced to YMCA. We then ended the day with hot chocolate and marshmallows.

December Fun!
It is only Wednesday but we have had something fun everyday. On Monday, the CHS chorus came over to UMS and sang holiday songs. Everyone truly enjoyed this! On Tuseday, we read our first gingerbread story and ate gingerbread cookies from Pepperidge Farms. Today, we made our own gingerbread cookies, decorated them and then of course ate them.
"Inside Out" Movie
In guidance, students at UMS have been studying and learning about the zones of regulation. As a fun way to connect to what they’ve learned so far classroom teachers will be showing the movie ‘Inside Out’ either the Monday or Tuesday before Christmas vacation. This movie is rated PG. Please let your child’s classroom teacher know if you have any concerns. Also, if you are interested in reading the movie synopsis visit this link: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2096673/plotsummary

Four Winds
Yesterday, Naythan's mom came into the classroom to teach us all about seeds and how they travel. Students had a great time identifying seeds, dissecting a Lima bean seed and deciding what kind of a travel agent was needed for certain seeds. Students always enjoy this hands on experience.
If there is any parent in the class that would like to help Naythan's mom teach Four Winds, she would greatly appreciate the help. Please contact her if you are interested.
