Watershed
This afternoon we had Stephanie from Champlain Base and Harbor come in and show us how people can pollute the lake. She then demonstrated ways people can keep pollution from getting into the lake. Please take the time to talk with your child about Stephanie's visit. Students truly enjoyed her display!
Fire Safety
This morning we had a visit from the Colchester Fire Department reminding us that October is fire safety month. They explained that an adult should check the fire alarms at home, what to do in case of a fire (stop, drop, cover our face and roll) and then they stressed the importance of having a meeting place outside of our houses. It was a great visit and we are lucky to have the fire department so close to our school!

Harvest/Picnic
On Tuesday, 2nd graders harvested the potato plants they planted last spring and donated them to the Colchester Food Shelf. We are great community members and love giving back.
As part of our school-wide PBIS celebration we had an October picnic lunch outside.
It was a busy day!

Community Applesauce
Our room smelled so yummy on Friday. Our classroom applesauce was liked by some but not by all. At least students gave it a try!

UMS Book Fair
The UMS Book Fair is coming this week! Students will preview the books on Monday and Tuesday, and they'll have a chance to start buying books on Tuesday evening from 4:30 -6:30. Here is a link that you can use to buy items online or to set up an ewallet account so your child can buy books without having to bring money into school. Have a great day!

Classroom Community
In Room 11, the month of September is dedicated to building a classroom community by getting to know each other. Here are some pictures of my lovely students!
